JEDI

JEDI Crew is where students learn about the philosophy of Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion. Here, students learn about the importance of working together as a crew to achieve justice.

These crew lessons happen in class once a week and are followed up by a segment in community crew. There is a scope and sequence that exists per grade level bands of K-2, 3-5, and 6-8. These lessons are connected to the revised Illinois Social Studies Standards as well as the Learning for Justice Social Justice Standards. This learning is in addition to social justice and social studies learning that students have in their modules.

Service Learning

JEDI service learning is project based learning where EMSA students educate the community on Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion. Check out our "Better World Day" Stand Up Stumps project from spring of 2021!

JEDI Leaders

Each grade level at EMSA identifies students to take on classroom and crew leadership roles. Our student leaders attend outreach events, participate in speaking engagements, and represent our student population at community gatherings.
